The Spring/Summer Kent Creme Brulee kids Event will be Thursday May 10th-Saturday May 12th, 2012 at the Kent Commons in Kent, Washington.

Welcome to Crème Brulée, a biannual Consignment and Boutique sale in Western Washington. Crème Brulée is the best place to find wonderful resale clothing and fabulous Boutique items for babies and kids. Whether you are a shopper in search of great brands or you would like to resell your gently used items, this is the sale for you! 2011 marks our fifth year in business. At our last sale we had over 150 consignors, 1,000 shoppers and sold over 9,000 items! We are constantly growing and are always in search of savvy shoppers, consignors with high quality clothing and equipment, and boutique sellers with unique custom items.

What makes Crème Brulee different from other sales?
~We are unique in the quality of items we offer. We focus on bringing our shoppers the best and carefully inspect each item. We have also searched high and low to bring you the most fabulous Boutique items. We want to provide you with a more upscale experience in service, atmosphere, and products.We also pay our consignors a higher percentage then consignment stores and other area sales.

Do you have a store, or plans to open one?
~We do not have a store or any plans to become one. We want to be a large event sale that shoppers look forward to. Each sale will offer more items for sale than most stores could fit! We are however expanding to hold sales in new locations including the Eastside this February and the Tacoma area sometime next year!

Do you accept all seasons of clothing at both sales?
~Yes, we think that many moms look ahead to the next season/size when making their purchases so we allow our consignors to bring all seasons. Keep in mind that some items, such as swim wear, and Christmas dresses, sell best in their proper season.

What if I want to consign but I can’t make the drop off or pick up times?
~Drop off times are available for 3 hours on Thursday the day before the sale opens to the public. Pick up is available 3 hours after the sale has closed the last day. You may have a friend of family member do either for you if you cannot make it. We are unable to transport items to the sale for you, or hold your items after the sale has ended. If you do not pick up your items, they are immediately donated.

I have some cute clothes that are in excellent condition, but they aren’t very high end brands, can I consign them with you?
~Yes, we will accept a stylish piece of clothing in great condition even if it’s not name brand. What we want to avoid is someone who wants to consign only store brand/outlet type clothing. If this is mostly what you have, then probably this is not the sale for you.

What if I have lots of great stuff but no time to prepare it?
~If you don't have time to clean, press, price and tag your items, you may be invited to take advantage of early drop-off, and we'll do all of that for you. This option is available to consigners who have items that are in high demand with our shoppers, name brand, and in season. Preference will be given to clothing in sizes above 2T, as the smaller sizes are more plentiful at the sale. Email us if you would like to be considered, as this popular option fills up fast and may not be available too close to the sale.

How do I become a Boutique Seller?
~Simply email us and let us know about the products you make or represent, and we'll go from there. We have several differant options for Boutique sellers to help you be successful. Please note we do not accept any businesses that are not focased on items for babies, kids or young families. In order to provide our shoppers with a more pleasent relaxing exprience, we do not accept home sales type businesses. (Although we do have advertising opportunities for these types of products.)

Are there franchise opportunities to own a Creme Brulee kids sale?
We are researching this possibility, as several people have contacted us with an interest. If you are interested email us and we'll talk!

FAQ's for consignors:

How soon after the sale will I recieve my consigning check?
~Your consignor checks will be mailed out within 2 weeks of the last day of the sale. You will be able to view your sales in your account prior and know how much you've earned prior to that.

Do I have to provide hangers, and do I get them back?
All clothing items must arrive on hangers (facing left, like a question mark) childrens tube hangers come 10-12 in a pack for $1 You can also get free hangers if you ask from some retailers (Osh Kosh, and Carters for example) You are welcome to mark your hangers with masking tape if you like, we do not usually have time to sort through them for you however. All hangers are in large bins at the end of the sale and consignors are free to take some home.

Do you take large baby equipment and furniture?

Yes! In fact these items are always in demand. Please make sure the item you bring is clean, in working order, with batteries includes so shoppers can see they work. Items must also be up to date and meet current safety standards-PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT BRING ANY ITEM THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED!

Tagging

Our Bar-Coded Tag System is easy to use and ensures accuracy!

Once you have your consignor number and are registered through our system, you can access your to create, change, and print tags here:

As always, tags should be printed on white or cream cardstock (colored paper is difficult for scanners to read, and flimsy paper is likely to become detached from the item)
Items should be well attached! You can use safety pins, or a tag gun (They can be purchased on ebay or retail supply stores) or print directly onto adhesive shipping lables and stick them to the upper right chest area of the garment.

Tags should be placed through the inner tag at the back of the neck of each garment, or in that area for garments that do not have a tag. Please do not place tags in other areas such as the sleeve. Take care that the clothing is not damaged by your tagging!

For toys, books and other items, affix the tag securely, and visibly, but in such a way that it will not damage the item when removed (ie double stick tape and books do not mix!)

Please remember the barcode tells the computer the price, make sure your barcodes look clear and crisp. Make sure nothing is printed on the opposite side of your tag, particularly nothing with a barcode!

Do not attempt to shrink or modify the shape of the tag as this will make it difficult to scan.

Changes to your tag involving the price or whether the item will be dicounted must be made in the system and not with a pen. Scanners read barcodes, not what you wrote, and if we accepted written in price changes, we wouln't know if a dishonest person had changed the price or you had!

You do not have to be detailed in your description of the item, however one advantage to being accurate is that we will have a better chance of looking an item up and getting it sold should the tag become detached. A good description includes brand, color, or line (if you know it) the word "set", if there is more than one piece and NWT if the item is new with tag.

Consignors who volunteer enjoy the following benefits:

Each volunteer task or shift: receive 5% more of your sales. + preshopping (up to 80%!)

The Crème Brulée sale is a huge event and we need many volunteers to help it run smoothly! Volunteers can do a variety of jobs including assisting with checkout, stocking and straightening, setting up or breaking down. There are mornings, mid-day and evening shifts. REPEAT Volunteers are invited to pre-shop beginning 30 minutes before preshopping actually starts (pre-preshopping!) The evening before the sale opens to the general public. If you would like to work at the sale, you commit to a 4-hour shift on the day that is convenient for you. If you sign up for back to back shifts (we love this!) Then you will have time to grab a bite to eat. If you have a friend or spouse who would like to volunteer with you (and they are not consigning) their volunteer shifts can count toward your higher percentage! (up to 80%)

For those who would like to help out and enjoy volunteering benefits, but are not available to work at the sale, we have volunteer tasks that will earn you some of these same benefits. These tasks include things like distributing flyers, posting posters or yard signs, and listing the sale information in multiple online and other venues. If you are interested in doing a task for volunteer credit. Email us and we'll talk to you about the differant options. Currently, online sign up is available for shifts only, not tasks.

Volunteer tasks: (simply email us at cremebruleekids@gmail.com and let us know which you'd like to do)

- Be responsible for 8 yard signs, place them in high traffic areas in Issaquah, Sammamish or Snoqualmie at least one week prior to the Issaquah sale or in Kent, Renton or Covington for the Kent Sale. Make sure they are placed legally, gather and return them after the sale. (available up until 1 week prior to the sale, or all our signs are out!)

- Distribute 400 flyers to local kid friendly businesess, daycares, preschools, or moms groups. (available up until 2 weeks prior to the sale)

- For the computer savvy... get our button posted on 5 differant blogs or our event listed in community calendars. Need to be blogs with a large following, not personal blogs, and not simply a posting.

- Make up your own, do you have contacts in radio, tv, or printed news? If you have a way to get the word out about Creme Brulee, tell us about it!

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT WHEN YOU SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER YOU ARE FILLING A SPOT THAT NO ONE ELSE CAN TAKE. WE WILL BE COUNTING ON YOU, AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CHECK EMAIL DURING THE SALE, IF YOU CANT MAKE YOUR SHIFT YOU NEED TO FIND SOMEONE TO WORK IT FOR YOU. CHANGES IN SHIFTS CAN BE MADE UP UNTIL 2 DAYS PRIOR TO THE SALE.

Items we accept:
Name Brand New and Used clothing and shoes for boys and girls size 0-12 for all seasons (must be high quality, in excellent condition).
Newer and in style baby equipment such as strollers, swings, carriers, pack and plays, car seats etc. sell very well.
Furniture such as cribs, rockers, high chairs, etc.
name brand Linens, trendy diaper bags, toys, children's DVDs, video games, etc

*Please pay close attention! We have limited space and cannot accept items that don't meet these guidelines!

CLOTHING:
-Clothing needs to be free from stains, fading and piling, missing buttons, etc. and basically in excellent used condition.
-Clothing can be from any season, but we recommend that you keep the very summery at home for the fall sales, and the very wintery at home for the spring sales, as they do not sell well.
-Please no character clothing (sponge bob, Dora, Disney ect.) this does not apply to costumes
- Shoes must have very little wear/ scuffing
~Our sale is focused on high quality name brand clothing. Please note we will accept a limited amount of clothing from Carters, oshkosh, and other store brands. Any clothing item you bring in should be in current style. If the dress Great Aunt so and so gave you, looks like something your mom made you wear when you were a kid (ie stiff velvet, rolled ribbon roses, frilly collar-you know the one) please leave it at home!
Again, please understand that some items may not be accepted, simply because they are not what our shoppers are looking for.

Play Condition:
We generally do not want items that are not in great condition, but if you have a great item with a very small flaw you may sell it by including the words PLAY CONDITION in the tag, and pricing it accordingly. (this is a change from past policy) Again, it has to be a small flaw on a great item, or we may have you take it back home with you.

New this sale! We will accept very stylish maternity pieces (if your sister-in-law gave it to you and you never wore it because it is ugly, than our shoppers probably agree with you!)
All clothing items should be on a hanger, hung facing left so that the hook forms a question mark. Make sure your clothing is cleaned and pressed so that it looks its best. Onsies and blankets should be placed in clear-plastic bags. When possible, group small items such as socks and tights together and package in clear plastic (ziplock okay).

FURNITURE & EQUIPMENT:
all items must be in great condition, meet current safety standards and the fabrics should be clean and up to date (not bears, clowns, bright primary colors) Please nothing over 5 years old.

Car seats must be less than 5 years old and have never been involved in an accident.
Bouncers, swings etc should have all pieces and batteries included, so shoppers can see them work
Cribs must be disassembled and include all parts and a large picture of how it looks fully assembled (can be the actual crib or a stock photo)

All consignors will sign a waiver stating that all the items they are selling are not part of a recall and meet current safety standards.

PRICING:

You are absolutely in control of the price of each piece. We want you to be happy with the price your item sells for, of course we also want your items to sell well. Use common sense and consider the brand and condition. Try to think what you would pay for the item in excellent used condition. It will be purchased quickly if it's a bargain. When possible include original packaging. Also, multiple piece outfits tend to sell better than individual pieces. If you are not sure what to price an item, refer to the pricing guide. Please stay in 50 cent increments; $6.50 or $7.00- not $6.49 or $6.99.

Shoes sell best in the $4-$8 range, making exceptions for higher end shoes that are brand new.
TAGGING:
After you have signed up to consign, it's time to start tagging! Use our barcoded tagging system and print on white or ivory cardstock only (regular paper can become easily detached from your item, and colored paper is harder for our bar scanners to read). When tagging clothing, attach to the tag or seam on the item itself- DO NOT affix your tag to the hanger or other packaging. A retail tag gun is worth the small investment if you have a lot items. A vertical safety pin is acceptable as well. Do not use straight pins, ouch! Make sure all items that go together are attached to one another. When tagging large or irregular objects, use common sense, just make sure the tag is clearly visible and that it will not damage the item when removed.

Consigning

We are looking to add consignors with great taste. We have shoppers in search of Gymboree, Janie and Jack, Gap, Mini Boden, Tea, Naartjie, Hanna Anderson. We also have people who want very high end, boutique and European brands. A stylish piece in excellent used condition from other store brands such as Old Navy, The Childrens Place, or Carters are just fine also. We will be selective in order to ensure that our sale is full of the things that our shoppers want to buy! How Consigning Works: • You pay a $10 fee to participate in the sale (payable through paypal or mailing a check)consignor fees are to help us cover the cost of the venue and are non refundable. • You determine the price for each of your items (see pricing guide for details) • You decide if you want your items to go 50% on Saturday (the last day) • You keep 65% of your sales (up to 80% with volunteering tasks and/or shifts!) • As a consignor you shop at the pre-sale before the public • You have the option to pick up leftover items or donate them at the end of the sale • You will receive your check within two weeks! To apply for a consignor number, please fill out the following form: New Consignor Registration Returning consignors may click here to register for our next sale: Returning Consignor Registration Consignor Check in: will be Thursday May 9th from 2:00pm-5:30pm at the Kent Commons. Your items will be inspected to ensure they meet our guidelines and are tagged correctly, then you will take your items to the appropriate section. (We will have volunteers helping you as they are able) Consignor Pick up: At the end of each sale we donate leftover items to a great non-profit organization. If you would prefer to pick up your unsold items, they will be available for pick up after the sale ends on Saturday from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Anything not picked up in that time will be donated to charity regardless of how it is marked- no exceptions. We do our best to have everything sorted by consignor number, but it is each consignors responsibility to gather their items from areas not yet sorted. We do our best to keep track of inventory and take measures to keep tens of thousands consigned items safe, and accounted for. However, we are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Most commonly items are missed upon pick up, or consignors don't check the lost and found!

Why Crème Brulée?

Our shoppers enjoy a wide selection of high quality items for good prices all gathered in one place. You will also find custom made products and great gifts that you won't find anywhere else including a large variety of hair accessories, custom clothing, gift sets, baked goods, nursery decor and so much more! Prize drawings, and a children's photographer on site, make this a fun, not to miss event!

As a consignor you are able to sell your items all at once. You don't have the hassle of listing and photographing individual items for ebay or craigslist and you will be able to recoup more of your money than having a garage sale or consigning with a shop. Our sellers set their own price on each item and are not required to work at the sale although we provide great incentives for our volunteers. Our focus on selling the best, and advertising well, ensure excellent earnings for all of our sellers.

My sister and I love dressing our kids in great clothes. We also enjoy hunting at high end shops and Boutiques for those original must have items. Most of all we love a good deal! We wanted to find a way to combine what we love about shopping for our little ones, quality stuff, good deals, and unique Boutique finds. After much research and hard work Jen and Jaque cordially invite you to a new experience in consignment sales. Named for our favorite dessert! Creme Brulee.
